Return

Wed Aug 1, 2007, 1:54 AM
It just so happens that I never actually reduced the amount of time I spent on dA, with respect to the fact that I was unable to upload anything. Anyway, I felt I could enter a state of semi-activity, seeing as how I still don't have the ambition to work on my art, however, I would still like to talk to others and show off an occasional piece or two of mine... hopefully that won't suck that bad.

Why did I choose to come back now, of all times? Because I can finally access deviantart without using a proxy, which means I can actually upload stuff now.

Banned

Sun Jun 24, 2007, 12:30 AM
Well, here's something I never quite expected. Although I'm not sure, I believe my IP has been banned from deviantart. I can't get through to the site on any computer in my house, which leads me to believe that, not only has my IP been banned, but my service in Anchorage might have been banned from deviantart altogether, maybe because some jackass who uses GCI broadband was being a dick here (it's easier to ban an entire service than search for a specific IP). I can't really say what the situation is; the scenario I just described is what !Weeniemann told me could be the case, and it seems pretty plausible, though it never occurred to me that Anchorage could house a dA dick.

Anyway, now I have to use a proxy to get to dA from my house, and I can't even upload new drawings anymore. To be honest, I haven't been pleased with deviantart as of late, since half of the time I'm here is spent loading and reloading pages that refuse to come up because of all the bandwidth the site gets. Not only that, the community has grown very much since I first arrived, which wasn't even all that long ago, meaning there's less room for recognition. This is all in addition to the fact that I haven't been artistically active lately, which defeats the purpose of being here.

I've met some nice people here, and have been able to stay connected to some of my friends as well, even more so after I moved away from them to my new home in Alaska, which is why it's difficult for me to say that I'm leaving dA. There aren't many of you who will read this, or who will probably even care, but I still thought I ought to explain some things before I left. I'll still frequent the site every once in a while, so don't hesitate to message me, but at least until this whole debacle blows over, my visits will be greatly decreased. Hope you all keep your art going, as will I. C out!

UPDATE: Uh oh, ADOBE!

What hypocrites. They tell us not to use "photoshop" as a verb, and then they go and do it on their website (last paragraph, last sentence). Way to go.

Uh oh, DeviantArt!

Adobe has made it quite clear that their software line, Adobe® Photoshop®, is not to be used as a form of slang. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of "photoshop" as a noun, verb, possessive noun, or the abbreviation of "Photoshop" as "PS". They continue their little lesson in grammar by stating that trademarks must always be capitalized and, as proper adjectives, must be followed by "the generic terms they describe". To the community of deviantArt, this is most heavily directed towards you and your inability to correctly capitalize on the use of Adobe® Photoshop® software. No more photoshopping photoshops, you photoshoppers! PS cannot have its name degraded in such a way!

Okay, I'm done. From now on, I shall always correctly refer to my legal use of the Adobe® Photoshop® software in my deviations, and I implore you to do the same.
